As a Native north carolinian myself, Ive gotten to know the ins and outs of our capital city and want to share 10 of my favorite things to do in Raleigh, North Carolina. Whether you’re a local seeking a new adventure or a visitor spending some time in the city of oaks, this list of fun Raleigh attractions is where you should start.
Raleigh is becoming one of the fastest growing cities in the US and for a good reason, from the beautiful outdoor spaces, diverse culinary scenes, engaging exhibits, to the variety of entertainment options. Raleigh provides a well-rounded experience that will satisfy a wide range of interest.
- Dorothea Dix Park
Address: 1030 Richardson Dr, Raleigh, NC
If your looking for a beautiful and relaxing place to go in Raleigh, Dorothea Dix Park is the place to be! With the Stunning Views of the cities skyline and the wide open space, it makes it the perfect place to spend time with loved ones or have a nice picnic.
In the recent years, the city of Raleigh has planted sunflowers that bloom in early July that have become a huge attraction to Raleigh natives. Its a truly beautiful view and its perfect for photos and memories!
2. CAM Raleigh

CAM standing for contemporary Art Museum is a multimedia art gallery that is hands down a favorite among locals. The architect and design of the museum itself is often intriguing as the art itself. With a diverse range of media, styles, and themes, it provides a fresh and engaging experience all around.
The museum highlights work by local North Carolina artist while also including national and international art pieces.
One of my favorite things about this museum is that it offers educational workshops and programs including artist talks, workshops and tours which makes it engaging with each guest.
3. North Hills
Address: 4321 Lassiter at North Hills Ave, Raleigh, NC 27609
If your looking for a fun night out with nice scenery and great food, North Hills is the place to be!
North Hills is a great place to visit because it offers a range of different attractions all in one place from boutiques, upscale restaurants, trendy cafes, A cinema and the host to various events throughout the year. This includes live music, outdoor festivals, and cultural events.
The overall atmosphere and vibe of North Hills is vibrant and offers a sense of community, making it a welcoming place for visitors and residents.
4. Boxcar Bar + Arcade
Address: 330 W Davie St, Raleigh, NC 27601
If your into arcade games and delicious food, it may be worth stopping by Boxcar! This venue gives a relaxed and casual vibe that is ideal for hanging out with friends and family. It’s a place where you can unwind, have fun and enjoy nostalgic games.
Depending on the time of the day, Boxcar can also be a family-friendly environment, especially for younger kids who enjoy arcade games. Its a fun spot for all ages.
Also Located right in Downtown Raleigh, Boxcar is easily accessible and located near other attractions, making it a convenient location to start or end your day.
5. Boylan Bridge
Address: 234 S Boylan Ave, Raleigh, NC 27603
If you’re anything like me, and love getting a good view of the city you’re visiting then this is a bucket list spot.
The Boylan Bridge offers a stunning view of Downtown Raleigh and surrounding areas making it a great spot for capturing photos of the city skyline and enjoying the beauty of the area. Additionally, the bridge features a walkway that allows visitors to enjoy a peaceful walk or a light jog especially during a sunrise or sunset.
The Boylan bridge also connects to Downtown Raleigh, making it easily accessible to explore nearby attractions, restaurants and shops. A perfect focal point to start or end your day.
6. Pullen Park
Address: 520 Ashe Ave, Raleigh, NC 27606
Pullen Park is one of the oldest public parks in North Carolina, established in 1887. Making it one of the most popular parks in North Carolina and for good reasons. The Park features walking trails, multiple playgrounds, fields for playing soccer & baseball, tennis courts and lakes.
The park also has a super cool miniature train ride that takes its visitors all around the park. It’s a nice way to relax while also enjoying the scenery of the park.
7. Nerd Escape Room Raleigh

For those seeking a fun and challenging activity, Nerd Escape Room in Raleigh is a fun and engaging option for pairs or a group of people.
I personally love a good escape room mainly for the thrill it brings. Unlike traditional forms of entertainment, escape rooms offer an interactive way to engage your mind while also enjoying a group activity.
The themes often include elements from fantasy and science fiction with its own story line and set of puzzles. The thrill of escaping a room within a set time frame is such a memorable and exhilarating experience, its a bucket list attraction to do in Raleigh for sure!
8. Moore Square
Address: 201 S. Blount Street, Raleigh, NC 27601
Right in the heart of downtown, Moore square is the perfect place to relax, have a picnic, or enjoy a nice walk. The square often hosts community events and festivals throughout the year including farmers market, art fairs, and cultural celebrations.
The park includes a playground area for kids while also providing easy access to walking and biking trails.
Its central location makes it a convenient starting point for exploring the city.
9. Frankies
Address: 11190 Fun Park Dr, Raleigh, NC 27617
Frankies is an ideal spot for group activities, whether it’s a family gathering or a fun day out with friends. The range of activities will ensure that everyone has a good time.
I will say it can be a bit pricey but for all the activities the park has to offer, it is worth it! I personally love the go karts and the Laser tag.
Tip: The park does get pretty packed during the weekends so if you want to go when its less packed i suggest going during the week!
10. NC Museum Of Art
Address: 2110 Blue Ridge Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607
One thing I love about the NC museum Of Art is that it includes beautiful art pieces inside while also including continued outdoor art pieces outside. A beautiful place to explore art in a natural setting.
If you’re not a big fan of art museums, the museum offers a lot of outdoor seating and open green space to have a picnic or to enjoy nature with friends and family. Also includes walking trails for bike riding or relaxing walks.
