In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my simple yet effective skincare routine, along with tips and recommended products that actually work to help you achieve healthy, glowing skin.
A few years ago, I had a skincare routine that was nothing more than soap and a splash of water. But after struggling with dry patches and occasional breakouts, i realized it was time to invest in a routine that would actually nourish my skin.
The journey followed with a lot of trial and error to say the least. From trying harsh products to spending way too much money on expensive serums & cleansers, I realized the key was simplicity and consistency. Its led me to the products i use and will be sharing today that have shown amazing results for my skin.
Skin Care Struggles
No matter your skin type or age, you’ve probably faced a skincare struggle at some point. Whether it’s fighting acne or uneven skin texture, the good news is that most skin care concerns are manageable with the right routine. Some common skin care struggles can include:
- Acne & Breakouts
- Dryness
- Sensitive Skin
- Hyperpigmentation and Dark Spots
- Oily Skin
- Large Pores
- Wrinkles
- Uneven Skin Texture
- Consistency
Ive personally struggled with occasional breakouts, VERY dry skin, and uneven skin textures which led me to focus on techniques that would aim to moisturize and tone out my skin tone.
Finding Your Perfect Skin Care Routine
The first step to tackling any skincare struggles is understanding your skin type. Whether you have oily, dry, combination or sensitive skin, knowing what works for your skin will make all the difference when choosing products and creating a routine.
Once you understand your skin type, it’s time to create a routine that work for you. The basics of a simple skincare routine include essential steps like cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection.
Lastly, its essential to know the importance of consistency when starting your skincare journey. It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple months to see noticeable improvements, depending on your skin type and needs. But with the right results, consistency and products you’ll start see the results!
My Skin Care Routine
Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. I’ve found a routine that works for me, using dermatologist-approved products that are not only highly rated but also super affordable. These products have all delivered real results for my skin and the best part? Most you can find at your local drugstore!
Okay, Let me take you through my skincare routine step by step:
- Remove Makeup
If I happen to wear makeup that day, I would start off by removing all my makeup before washing my face. I use the Farmacy Green Clean for my eyes which is a makeup melt-away cleansing balm. (works AMAZING if you wear water proof makeup) For my face I use the Garnier Micellar cleansing water.
2. Cleanse
This step is something I do both in the morning and the evening. It’s the first step of my morning skincare routine and usaully the second of my evening routine if I wear makeup.
This Cleanser has worked very well for my skin since i started using it. It is the CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser. It’s an exfoliant and cleanser all in one. I find this product to be vert hydrating for my skin and keeps my skin soft & smooth.
I go in with the cleanser and massage it into my skin then rinse off. I’ll take a paper towel and gently pat dry my face. If you prefer a wash cloth, be careful to not harshly tug at your skin as this can cause irritation.
3. Toner
After my face is nice and dry, I’ll go in with the Witch Hazel Facial toner with a cotton patch. I’ll make sure to apply all over my face and neck!
I have very sensitive skin & tend to get a lot of redness on my cheeks and witch hazel has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe irritated or sensitive skin. This product has helped tremendously to even out my skin texture and help with redness.
4. Moisturizer/Sunscreen
Finally, after my toner has set it in, i’ll apply moisturizer on my face or a moisturizing sunscreen if its the beginning of the day. If it’s the end of the day and i’m getting ready for bed, i’ll only apply moisturizer.
I use the Cetaphill Night Facial Moisturizer. I have used this lotion for awhile now and it keeps my skin hydrated all night long without that thick and heavy feeling that some moisturizers leave. It’s also free of oils, fragrances, and parabens which all can cause irritation on the skin.
If i’m doing this in the morning, I will use the CeraVe AM facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30. It provides protection against both UVA and UVB rays, which is essential for preventing premature aging and skin damage caused by the sun. Overall, CeraVe products are made to work for most people because they dont have crazy products and are dermatology based.
So there you have it, My skincare routine! This may seem like a few products since i know there are skincare routines that consist of over 10 products. Ive found that by keeping things simple and only using the essentials, its created a routine thats effective, effortless and easy to maintain!
